I used domains.live.com to create a personalized email address which pointed to the clients domain name.
I changed the mx records to prove to Microsoft that I owned the domain and created several email accounts.
Once you create each account you need to log back into domains.live.com and sign in with the credentials for the email user as this activates the account. Otherwise things will not work. It gives you the opportunity to create recovery details and 2 factor authentication.
Once you have done this these are the setting to configure your devices.
Incoming settings:
username: emailaddress @ mydomain . com . au
password: your password
pop3 server: pop3.live.com
port: 995
security type: SSL/TLS
Delete email from server: never
Outgoing Settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Port: 587
Use SSL = on
Authentication: Password
Require Sign-in: YES
Username: same as username above
Password: same as above
Here are the settings for mobile phones:

I did find google apps to offer a nicer interface but they do not have a free one anymore which I used to use for small businesses with just a couple of employees.
